“ it's been a while since I have been to the Sandbar, but we were going to see a show at the Arts Club Granville Island Theatre, and what could be more convenient than having dinner at the Sandbar before the show. No free parking on Granville Island but it is not that expensive compared to parking downtown. Now to the review: for two people we ordered the Sushi Tower ($109) and two sides: the spicy green beans ($12.50), and signature wok squid ($19). We also ordered wine. Other reviewers have said this restaurant is a bit pricy, but I thought the Sushi Tower was fairly priced. it comes with 10 pieces of sashimi (two each of five types), half a dozen fresh oysters, half a dozen jumbo prawns, a rainbow roll, dragon roll and a spicy tuna roll. Truly, we would have had enough just ordering the Sushi Tower, and we were absolutely stuffed when combined with the two sides. Next time we might just order one side, or no sides to leave room for dessert. I ordered a coffee to stave off a digestive coma since I wanted to stay awake for the theatre. I would say that the sushi was very high quality, and while the decor has not changed in as long as I can remember, it is still a very nice ambience. Our table was next to the fireplace but it was set up for four people and since we were only two we were not right next to the fireplace. Great setting with the big windows and the white tablecloths. A great place for dinner with your special someone. In Vancouver we are so lucky to have so many restaurants to choose from. If you are going to a show at the Arts Club, remember to ask for your discount! We forgot to do this, but we will remember the next time! I recommend making a reservation, especially if you are going to a show and you have time constraints. ”

“ The Sandbar is a cool restaurant nestled underneath the Granville Bridge on Granville Island. It boasts an impressive view of the peninsula on the other side of False Creek. Food at the Sandbar is very similar to its sister restaurant, Cardero's, on the opposite side of the peninsula. We started with the Har Gow, shrimp & pork dumplings, which were served with hot mustard and chili sauce. My companion had the Clam chowder, and I had the fire-grilled sablefish (black cod). Both were very good. As at Cardero's the accompanying vegetables are nothing to write home about. Service was pleasant, and you can't beat the view. ”

“ If you're in Vancouver, BC, you must visit this popular spot. Expect it to be busy. We stopped a bit earlier than supper time and got a table outside. It was lovely, and we had nice weather that day. We had a good view of the water and bridge. 4 of us, and we all shared an app and ordered separate entrees. Expect it to cost a bit, too, although if you arrive early enough, there may be some happy hour specials on drinks and food. We took advantage of that. Overall, the service, food, and vibe are excellent. Highly recommended when in Vancouver. ”

“ Beautiful top notch service presentation and food. They were playing some nice Taylor swift upon arrival which was perfect but then some lounge singer came in and was blah! My sable fish was wood fired and flavored. They could do better with the sweet tea offered as it seemed canned not fresh and I'm certain they could do this. It's a wonderful setting also. Our server was funny and had a hint of Frodo baggins about him! ”

“ When you're atGranville Island, the sandbar is a great place to go. Food is always good. There was a promo at the time for a bottle of oyster bay wine, and a dozen oysters for $65 if I remember correctly! We also got the salad with chicken, which was huge and the scallop entrée with potatoes. I heard good things about the pistachio dessert so I want to get that too, but we were too full from all the food! ”

“ Seen this restaurant as soon as we drive into Granville island. We walked around and decided to get a quick drink and appetizer. We sat outside and had a water view with all the boats. Very nice clean place. They also had the football games on inside. It was cold out and we asked for the heaters. They turned them on right way. It was nice and toasty before our food came. The service was very quick and attentive. They cleaned our table off right away We ordered the sandbar tower. The oysters were so yummy and fresh. The prawns were big and served with mussels and clams. They gave a good amount of crab! The ahi and salmon was both paired perfectly with lots of flavor. The maple shrimp was the best! Way better than honey walnut shrimp. It's a must order. Would love to come back here for dinner and try their entree. ”

“ YES! YES! YES! I rarely give five stars, but this restaurant deserved it. We ordered the Cedar Plank Salmon with truffle Parmesan fries and a side of a lobster tail. My BFF and I split it and it was the perfect amount of food and it was so delicious. Our servers name was Amanda. She was very kind and let us know that she had split the meal so we didn't have to split it and we were able to get more fries. I would highly recommend coming here for the views, the service and the food. ”

“ Very accommodating staff- we wanted roof top seating and they allowed us to sit with our drinks downstairs until there was a table large enough to seat us, which was so nice! The roof top offers a lovely view of the bay and downtown. The food was really good, enough veggie options- good tourist spot ”
